Welcome to Humanizing the Headset! As we gear up for our August launch, I just want to touch bases to give all of you an idea of what to expect. Before we begin, please familiarize yourself with our Conduct & Privacy policy. To access it, click on the "About & Contact" tab at the bottom right of your monitor. If you're viewing via your mobile device, the menu is on the upper right hand of your screen. Your participation here implies your consent to it. Violations of this policy will be dealt with on a case by base basis with consequences up to removal from the site(s) completely.
Moving right along! Our website will run in conjunction with our Facebook page. You'll notice the link for it is broken and that is because it is currently hidden until the launch. The Facebook page will be our primary method of basic communication with you. There you will find the bulk of our posts. The website will have a lot of that, too, but we are also striving to bring you more than what Facebook will allow. That means original content. We're going to delve deeper and talk candidly about the things that affect us - hot calls, office politics, co-workers - and ways we deal with whatever obstacles come our way at work... and even at home. Absolutely nothing is off the table here.
Our goal is bring you something of significant substance once a week, and we're going to give you a piece of that during the launch. You'll read an interview with a command officer about comm center consolidation - the good and the bad. The nature of the interview means that we can't tell you who they are, where they're from, or who they work for. It's an exercise in trust and demonstrates our commitment to your privacy. If there's something you want to get off your chest, a question you want to pose, or talk about anything on your mind (within reason, of course) but don't want to risk getting in trouble, reach out to us and we will post it anonymously on your behalf.
Our second piece will come Dr. Carrie Steiner, a licensed clinical psychologist who has a private practice as a first responder and public service psychologist. She's going to talk to us more about what she does, the importance of self-care, and things that we can do in our everyday lives to de-stress and decompress. You will have to create a user ID and password if you want to leave comments on the website, otherwise you can leave your comments on the Facebook page.
This is just an example of what we are going to bring to you. All of our original content will be housed here in the blog section, with links to it across all of our social media platforms. Is there a topic you want us to discuss? Do you have something to say and want to be a featured contributor? Shoot us an email, and we'll talk! We want to be the place you can come to to unwind, have a laugh, talk about what's on your mind, or find whatever resources you need. We are here to celebrate and HELP each other... and have a little fun along the way.
Thank you so much for joining us in the awesome new movement! If you want to reach out to us, just click the contact button and shoot us a message. One of us will respond as quickly as we can. We'd love to hear how we're doing! I have an AMAZING admin team that work across all shifts so, unless the shit's hit the fan, you should hear back from us as soon as possible.
That's all I got for now! See you in August!
- Brendhan
P.S. In celebration of our Independence Day, check me out singing our National Anthem!
